FAQ: Actionable Nonfiction Books Key Insights

This page contains frequently asked questions of our nonfiction book insights.

What about copyrights?

Our book insights (larns) distil the main ideas from nonfiction books in a new and original way which makes them works of their own hence in compliance with the UK’s copyright law. Our goal is to help people discover great books or learn on the go.

How do you choose which book to summarise?

We search for books to cover based on a request, suggestion or best-selling trends on platforms such as Amazon.co.uk.

Why focus on nonfiction rather than fiction and nonfiction?

Nonfiction books are more actionable as they are usually based on facts and actual events. They are easy to be broken down to exactly what the author means which is not the same as fiction books, which are fabricated and based on the author’s imagination. Short stories, novels, myths, legends, and fairy tales are all considered fiction which comes with subplots, metaphors, etc., that may make it complicated to understand the main idea.

Do you cover everything?

We follow a systematic process for extracting the key ideas from books. One of the ways we do this is by consulting various resources and cross-checking every key insight to remove errors or biases. We are not perfect but are always improving. If you see an error in our content, please feel free to message us, and we would correct it.

Why do you make your key insights free?

We want to empower everyone to learn thereby enabling people to discover new books and ideas.

Are you copying from any other service?

We make use of other services in helping us to create unique nonfiction book insights.

You make everything free so how do you make money?

We make money from ads although this has not been enough so feel free to support us by making a one-time or monthly donation.

What are “Larns”?

Larns is short for “insights”.

Are you not destroying the works of authors?

Reading our book insights (larns) does not affect the works of the author but instead enables people to discover great books and ideas. So our nonfiction book insights create a new market and expand the one that exists.

Are your key insights enough?

Even though we distil the main ideas in nonfiction books in formats that can be consumed in under 20 minutes, we believe the extra juice is in the detail so reading the original text can be a great way to have more in-depth understanding on a nonfiction book by exposing you to the nuances.
